Avast Decryption Tools - HermeticRansom Application
Avast has released a free decryptor for HermeticRansom ransomware. This malware was discovered last week and used in attacks against Ukrainian systems. It was identified as one of many malware families being targeted by a DDoS attack against Ukraine websites.
The malware was found to be running an encryption algorithm written in Go. The author of the malware was unfamiliar with the language and rushed the development. As a result, the encryption process has some vulnerabilities.
If you are suffering from a ransomware infection, use a trusted antivirus solution to scan and remove the malicious software. Make sure to install an updated security patch. Lastly, be sure to backup your data in separate drives. This is the only way to ensure that you can recover your files.
Fortunately, there are several free tools available to help you recover your encrypted files. Some of the most popular ransomware decryptors include Emsisoft, Kaspersky and Trend Micro. You can also try McAfee's Ransomware Recover (Mr2).
Another tool for ransomware decryption is the Quick Heal Ransomware Decryption Tool. This free program can decrypt 17 types of ransomware. In addition to that, it has in-built active protection mechanisms that help prevent the malware from executing once it's introduced via removable storage devices.
Avast has also published a guide for its HermeticRansom decryptor. Before you download and install, read the instructions carefully. However, Avast does not guarantee that the software will successfully decrypt your files.
In addition to removing your malware, you should keep a backup of your files. Having backups on separate drives is the best way to ensure that you can recover your data if you ever become infected.
